چکیده

Wet-chemical syntheses of quasi two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have emerged as promising methods for straightforward solution-processing these materials. However, the photoluminescence (PL) properties colloidal TMDs are virtually unexplored due to typically nonemitting synthesis products. In this work, we demonstrate room temperature micro-PL delicate ultrathin WS2 nanosheets synthesized from WCl6 and elemental sulfur in oleic acid oleylamine at 320 °C first time. Both mono- multilayer PL observed, revealing comparable characteristics exfoliated TMD monolayers underpinning high quality nanosheets. addition, long-term air stability is found, control photodegradation structures under laser excitation identified a challenge further advancing nanosheet monolayers. Our results render easily highly 2D semiconductors with optical fully competitive conventionally fabricated TMDs.

Room temperature photoluminescence from nanostructured amorphous carbon

Visible room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) was observed from hydrogen-free nanostructured amorphous carbon films deposited by pulsed laser ablation in different background pressures of argon sPArd. By varying PAr from 5 to 340 mTorr, the film morphology changed from smooth to rough and at the highest pressures, low-density filamentary growth was observed. Over the same pressure regime an i...

Temperature-Dependent Photoluminescence Emission from Unstrained and Strained GaSe Nanosheets

Two-dimensional AIIIBVI layered semiconductors have recently attracted great attention due to their potential applications in piezo-phototronics and optoelectronics. Here, we report the temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) of strained and unstrained GaSe flakes. It is found that, as the temperature increases, the PL from both the strained (wrinkled) and unstrained (flat) positions show ...

Room temperature sintering of polar ZnO nanosheets: II-mechanism.

In a previous work by the authors (A. Fernández-Pérez el al., Room temperature sintering of polar ZnO nanosheets: I-evidence, 2017, DOI: 10.1039/C7CP02306E), polar ZnO nanosheets were stored at room temperature under different atmospheres and the evolution of their textural and crystal properties during storage was followed. It was found that the specific surface area of the nanosheets drastica...

Room-Temperature Time–Resolved Photoluminescence Studies of UV Emission from GaN/AlN Quantum Wells

Room temperature time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) studies of multiple quantum well (MQW) structures of the binaries GaN and AlN grown by molecular beam epitaxy are reported. The eventual application of these structures is for GaN intersubband IR light emitters. However, as an initial study, the structures are evaluated at UV to investigate materials parameters relevant to IR light emissio...

Growth of colloidal PbS nanosheets and the enhancement of their photoluminescence.

Dual photoluminescence peaks observed during the synthesis of colloidal PbS nanosheets reveal their growth mechanism - two-dimensional attachments of the quantum dots. Well-grown nanosheets show the photoluminescence linewidth of 95 meV at room temperature. Aged nanosheets in toluene have enhanced photoluminescence with intensity improved by an order of magnitude.
